Celebrating NYE in London

My NYE in London went like this:-
Spotted an interesting statue of Kate Moss in the British Museum

Went to the Mall, the stretch leading to the Buckingham Palace. Horse Guard Palace

The road leading to the Palace

The Palace

Headed out at 9 odd to the streets with my friends to get a good view of the fireworks display. The long stretch along the embankment opposite the London eye were mostly filled, so we just kept following the crowd.

The roads were already littered with trash and bits of glass. People were getting drunk and making a big ruckus in the Tube.

With the streets crammed with people, we were lucky to be in the last fireworks viewing platform near Blackfriars.

Securing our spot, we waited in the cold for an hour, chit chatting, laughing, squeezing in the crowd. The fireworks lasted around 10 minutes or so ? I could only estimate, but seeing the fireworks shooting out from the London Eye with the crowd cheering it on was a fun experience. Once the fireworks were over and the people started to clear out, the bottle of champagne in my bag was popped open and we all took a swig to celebrate the New Year.

Then 3 bottles of wine and 1 bottle of dessert wine back home. May 2009 be even better than 2008.
