Good Old New KL

Had a fabulous family trip down to Genting & KL for my uncle's office opening.

Made a short getaway to Putrajaya where the Government House was located.

KL - a good place to unwind.

Dude - Where's my Whale?

The most disappointing day trip out of the whole Alaska cruise had to be the Whale Watching Trip at Victoria, Canada. No whale - lots of ocean. No refund. *sighs*

The view was nice from the boat, but when you have just been on a cruise for 6 long days. Really, do you want to pay extra money to see even more ocean views?!

Dude, where's my whale?

Alaska - Tracy Fjord

The cruise was long. 7 days long. I was just up on the deck, admiring the scenery, chilling with my books with boredom ultimately driving me to the open buffet. I was almost stark raving mad with clothes that didn't seem to fit well anymore. As a person who proudly declared herself as a city girl, why on earth did i sign up for such a long scenic cruise?

Then we went to Tracy Fjord & it was all worth it.

I woke up at 5am to catch the sunrise, not knowing what to expect.

It was misty and foggy outside with little light.

The ship was navigating slowly with little icebergs surrounding us.

And then, there was light.

The ship was actually slowly navigating itself into a small channel surrounded by mountains & valleys. As the light hit, it was so breathtakingly beautiful. I was speechless, teary even for some unknown reason (Maybe from the cold) at the wonder of it all.

I was running from the left of the ship to the right of the ship to the top of the ship. Snapping, snapping, snapping like crazy.

We finally arrived at our destination. The Captain navigated the ship to as close as he could to this glacier. Yes, the glacier actually looks blue in real life. The dirt on the glacier comes from pollution & other unnatural sources. At this point in time, if the ship had offered 1000 USD for an opportunity to kayak to the glacier. I would have paid that and more.

The ship stopped for close to 30 mins at the glacier for photo taking opportunities before leaving.

Now if anybody asks me if a cruise to Alaska was worth it, i will now gladly say Yes ! after Tracy Fjord.

Trip of a life time indeed :)

Cruise to Alaska - Skagway

In the second stop of the cruise, we ended up at Skagway - a old gold mining town in the past. Now it is just a sleepy town surrounded by beautiful mountains and a old railway called White Pass & Yukon Route which was formerly used by the gold miners.

The train ride was fun. It was a tiny train traveling perilously in between valleys, rivers, all rickety bridges and old trails where people died during the Gold Rush before the railway was built. Scenery was breathtaking of course. I was at the back of the train, taking photos in the open air. Just leaning on the rails, snapping like crazy. Even as i look at my photos now, i remember the fresh, crisp cold air that numbed my face.

We had some time to wander about the town. I was glad that the Alaskans had a kitschy sense of humor.

When in Alaska, eat Alaskan King Crab. :)
