If there is one thing that I really liked about Dublin, it is the rich literary history. It is an inexplicable feeling when you walk along the road and randomly come across the house where Jonathan Swift(Gulliver's Travels), Oscar Wilde have lived in or James Joyce has wrote about.
The local theatrical scene is pretty vibrant as well with a series of different theaters and drama performances. Before leaving Dublin, I decided to go the lunchtime performance at the Bewley's Cafe. As it was just before Xmas, there was a one-man show aptly called The Santaland Diaries about a failing actor's experience playing a elf at Macy's. For 15 euros, I got to watch a short 1 hour production with a simple lunch of tomato soup and soda bread.
The performance was good, but the material behind it, while interesting, was a bit too bare and overly stretched as the novelty about being a Macy Elf wears off. All in all, a good experience.
