Finally took the long deserved holiday .... and went to Japan for a week ! Taking the overnight flight, I arrived in Tokyo at 530am with the boyfriend, all ready to embark on our first trip to Japan.
Making our first stop to the food mecca - Tsukiji Market
Prior to my arrival there, i didn't quite know what to expect from the market. All i had was 2 handy guide books that told me that Tsukiji Market was a working fish market and had some restaurants there. Boy, was it an understatement..
After circling the fish market, we bought sashimi fresh sea urchins & oysters at dirt cheap prices. Heaven ! Fresh, oceany sea urchins that melt into your mouth. Big, meaty, juicy fresh oysters. But true to form, that wasn't sufficient.
Damn it, i was in Japan and i wanted Sushi !
After queuing for what was 45 minutes to get into this highly coveted sushi stall, we weren't allowed to take photos there. But it was truly a breath taking food moment for me.
Huge chunks of fresh fish (Tuna Belly, Tuna, Ark Shell, Scallops, Sea Urchin, Sweet Prawns, Egg), but the difference for me was the attentive chef that appreciated all the "oohing" voices that i was making and kept giving me bigger and bigger portions. :) The quality tuna belly, (Wagyu of the sea !) and the sushi rice that made all the difference. You could feel each and every rice grain intact, perfect, complementing the fish. Anyway, overhearing the conversation next to me, apparently our chef was on national TV. \^^/
Next stop, wild & whacky Japan - Shinodome - where one of the Japanese broadcasting stations was located.
And Ginza ... the playground of the rich
And ... yes .. this is just our first day ... next stop - Shinjuku !
Ohhh ..the delicious takoyaki that saved our freezing asses .. it was cheese coated, with curry sauce ! Soft, juicy with a slight chewy taste...
Wondering the Shinjuku back alleys of .. Host Clubs ..
And Love Motels ..
